Inspiration (8/3/16)

We all love being inspired or to be a inspiration for someone else. The sense of accomplishment, chest getting taller, wanting to be successful, being able to hold your head up high, these are things that make us feel good. If a student came up to you and said you’re a inspiration, then your whole day is filled with smiles and motivation. The ups and down that come with life is sometimes overwhelming and we need something to pick us up. I think sports is a great way to be inspired.

Since we have the summer Olympics starting this weekend (yes, I am excited), I am sure we are going to see a lot of inspirational stories. These athletes train their hardest day in and out for years to be one of the few to represent their country for a event that happens every 4 years. Every 4 YEARS! It’s crazy! The amount of mental, physical preparation it demands. I cannot even imagine what these athletes go through and I salute each and every one of them for their dedication to the sport they love.

For me, I am amazed at how much preparation goes into competing at these Olympic games. Being in America, it’s easy to choose which athlete to like because we have so many options. However, countries like Somalia are only able to send one or two athletes and hope they bring home a medal. Odds are against them, but there’s no reason why they can’t take the gold. We all like a underdog story, right? David versus Goliath, we all get inspired if David wins. And that’s the story most people gravitate towards. So come this weekend, be on the lookout for some inspiring stories some of these athletes have. Hope you enjoyed this week’s blog, stay tuned for more next week………………………Kei
