Road ahead: mind of a gym owner (12/7/16)

Man…….is it December already!?!?!? Geez, where does the time go? As the year comes to an end, I like to reflect on what I’ve accomplished during the year and what I have yet to achieve. As a business owner, my mind is constantly thinking. What’s the next step? How can we improve? Is this working? These are questions I ask myself on a daily basis. Being complacent is NOT where I want to be.

In the fitness industry, things change. New style of training, equipment, scientific evidence that proves one method is better than the other. As a trainer, we have to constantly keep up with the trends or else we’ll be doing the same thing with clients. Take a look at most commercial gym. What are most of them turning to? You can see that they are starting to use fewer machines and more body weight. Mainly because the type of body people want are being lean, toned, and flexible. But in my opinion, one of the reasons why gyms are seeking machines or equipment that targets multiple muscle groups is so that people can be efficient with their workout. Most people don’t want to spend 2-3 hours in the gym. All they have is that one hour before work, lunchtime, or after work. So if the demand is to be efficient, that’s what you have to provide.

As 2016 comes to a close, we can start gearing up for 2017. Is the year going to be same? Or, are you going to achieve that goal you said you were going to achieve years ago? But at the end of the day, YOU are the ONE that is in control of your own destiny. Don’t let that intimidate or scare you. Challenge is a good thing and you’ll become stronger, which I’ll talk about in the next week when I went skydiving. Hope you liked this week’s blog; stay tuned for more next week………………………Kei
