A colorful plate is the way to go

This is what I always tell my clients. Make sure your plate is colorful. Colors equal vegetables. Green onions, yams, tomatoes, garlic, carrots, turnips, asparagus, beets, cabbage, pumpkin, squash, the list goes on and all these vegetables are colorful. The benefits of eating vegetables are: low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals.

When I asked clients why they don’t eat more vegetables, the answer was because it requires a lot of preparation. This is true, but products that are in grocery stores have already-prepped vegetables. My personal favorite is the one bite bell peppers, so I don’t need to cut them. Also, baby carrots are already peeled and just need to wash.

On the other hand, carbs are generally bland in color: brown, yellow, or white. If your plate doesn’t have color, then its an indication of lack of vegetables. So next time you look down at your plate, is there a lot of colors? Hope you enjoyed this week’s blog. Stay tuned for more next Wed…………..Kei
