Key to health is……………………finding the right BALANCE. Health has physical, mental, and social well-being parts. In my opinion, all three make up a person’s health and each one can effect our well-being differently.
First, is the physical aspect. If you feel GOOD about yourself, you feel confident, your posture is better, and it resonates. We wake up to the same face everyday, so if you DON’T like what you see, its going to show when you talk to others and how you hold yourself. “I don’t like the way I look.” These are what people say when they come to us. Self confidence is low and people seek to improve that by transforming their body. Its amazing to see how people change in character (in a good way) once they like their body. So if you don’t like the way you look, then working towards that would be key.
You have to be in the right state of mind to want to take care of yourself.
Secondly, is the mental aspect of health. You have to be in the right state of mind to want to take care of yourself. This can be accomplished through many ways, but for our purposes here, let’s just stick with exercising. Exercise has many benefits; gets the muscle strong, bones get more dense, more mobility, the list goes on. But one of the key benefit is STRESS relieving. Elevating the heart rate, releasing endorphins, and getting all the frustration out. Also, because of the positive benefits associated with exercising, it is one of the healthy ways to improve your mental health. Personally, I exercise to cope with stress, which helps my mental state. It helps me clear my mind and we all need something to help our mental state of mind. Without it, then stress levels increase. So if yours isn’t exercise, then you have to find one.
Lastly, is social well-being. If you are surrounded by negative, toxic people, they drag you DOWN. I call these people “vampires.” Just sucking the living life out of you. Negativity is contagious and can affect your workouts. You are less motivated when depressed, meaning you won’t put as much effort into your workouts. So finding the right balance and surrounding yourself with positive people will improve your situation. Again, key is balance. If you are surrounded by negative people, hang out with positive people to feel better.
Ultimately, finding the right balance in health: physical, mental, and social well-being is key. When all three aspects are positive, then this is what I call “HEALTHY.”
