Prioritize your goal

Weight loss, increasing muscle mass, improving athletic performance, getting in shape, there are endless reasons to exercise. “Kei, I want to increase my vertical.” This was what my 70-year old client told me and I asked why. His answer was “just because.” I asked him how important increasing his vertical was and his answer was “not really.” Then the topic of prioritizing came up and how important it is to get to your fitness goal.

Don’t let others deter you from your goals.

First, it allows us to stay focused. Distractions happen all the time. You look at social media and see all these fancy workouts and grand promises for you to get to your goal. Word of advice. Don’t let others deter you from your goals. Want what you want.

Secondly, you don’t have a lot of time to train. Being efficient in your workout is key. We aren’t athletes and most of us have only 1-3 hours a week to train. Want to get stronger, more athletic, run faster, and improve flexibility? This would require 2 hour training days 7 times a week and years to see results. So if your goal is to lose weight, then emphasize total body workouts during training. Be efficient when you train.

Ultimately, there are countless of goals we can work on, but prioritizing them is important because it allows you to stay focused and efficient. Don’t let other people decide your goals. Know what you want and keep it a priority. Hope you enjoyed this week’s blog. Stay tuned for more next Wed……………..Kei
